Keep the Game We Love Going
Outdoor Rink Contest

iPlayHockey, alongside our partner CARHA Hockey, has launched the 'Keep the Game We Love Going ODR Contest.' This community initiative celebrates the tradition of the ODR as well as the individuals that keep them going in our communities!


Nominate an ODR OR ODR community volunteer(s) who keep these rinks active and the game we love going! 

Who/What Can Be Nominated

  • Any ODR in your community (municipal rink, community rink, privately-owned public rink)
  • Personal ODR (backyard, lake, pond, etc) *
  • Volunteer or community member who dedicates their time at the rink

How to Enter

  • Email photo and/or video submission to community@carhahockey.caDoes not have to be hockey related
  • Include your name, the name of the rink or the individual(s) you are nominating, and where located. Feel free to share a few words about what the ODR means to you and/or about the individual(s) you are nominating


  • One (1) cash prize of $1,000 towards the ODR operating costs for the 2022-23 season* and a CARHA Hockey/iPlay Hockey merchandise package (valued at $300)
  • Two (2) CARHA Hockey/iPlay Hockey merchandise packages (valued at $300)

* Cash prize must be directed towards the operating costs of a publicly accessible outdoor rink.

Winners will be randomly drawn from all submissions. Additional CARHA Hockey and iPlayHockey prizes are also available to be won throughout the campaign.

Contest Dates

  • Submissions open Monday, January 17th, 2022
  • Deadline for submissions is March 11th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Winners announced March 21st, 2022
