The thursday Oct 10 version of Gator hockey saw us face an old rival in the Lonestars
Once upon a time, we played these guys a few times and a certain gentleman named Joe G... no wait, thats too obvious, lets say J Gulli, who might be a principal at a certain school that rhymes with PBlessed POscar PRomero school was less than sportsman-like to a couple of us, but mainly Scradley. Words were said, penalties were taken, I think we regularly beat them on the scoresheet as well. Any time after that when playing them we've wanted him in that lineup to chrip insessantly. Would this finally be the night?
Nope.
Well that ended that fun. There must be a catholic mass going on somewhere in edmonton on a thursday night, he must have been busy. Moving on...
So the short benched / Principal-less Lonestars faced off against a pretty full Gator roster. How did they do you ask?
Well... not well. They did stay in the game for the first period. It was a pretty busy period actually. Gators threw 14 shots at the Lonestar net with the young Brady VanThuyne finding the lone Gator goal. Clay stood tall... as tall as he could, and stopped 12 of 13 Lonestar shots... all on his tiptoes.
Second period saw a carbon copy scoring play as Brady bingo'd again of an Overton primary. This time the Lonestars had no reply. In fact, after Buckley took a holding penalty (cause he's a hugger), Hutch went all guilty and tallied a shorty (note: you bingo shorthanded, that nullifies having to pay for nachos if you take a penalty). Second ends with shots at 28 - 23 in favor of the Green&Gold, and the Gators up 3-1.
Third saw more magnificent play between the pipes by Clay, another shooting gallery of a period, another tally from Brady to complete his hatty, and a late insurance goal from Teske. Also the Lonestars must have relegated jackass duties to their player Ryan O'Shagness.. O'Shawnnett... O'shack hennessy as he took a cross check and a roughing penalty. Charming fella that O'shack hennessy
